This week's Stash report is very exciting to me as it has two of my favorites. Those would be dots and Denyse Schmidt fabrics!

First the dots, these are the new Ombre Dots by Riley Blake and they are just gorgeous. Ombre seems to be trending right now, but I would have gone for these anyway, because they're dots! Speaking of Ombre I can't wait until those ombre solids come out later this year. I got my dots from Selvage123 on Etsy. They also have the new chevrons, which I have so far managed to resist.

And then there's the new DS Quilts (almost)fat quarter fabrics. These are sold in 1yd packages and each contains 4 different prints. So far there are 4 different packages for a total of 16 new prints!

I think the idea is great if you're like me and mosty buy fat quarters. But if you like a bit of yardage, or really love a print and want more, then you're kind of out of luck. The only other minor gripe is that they don't measure a full 18 x 22, but the DS yardage of late wasn't quite stretching to two 18 x 22 pieces in one half yard either, more like 18 x 21.

I also picked up a few patterns that were on sale for only $1 each. Two of them are from Denyse Schmidt.

No Cure for the Summertime Blues

Well, in between trying to scan my entire sheet collection for updated shop listings, get my UFOs rounded up for my upcoming challenge, laundry, and just wanting to sit and vegetate, I finally managed to finish this quilt!
It probably would have been done a couple of days ago, except I decided I wanted my binding thread to match the binding and wanted to wait for the Memorial Day sale at Joann's before I went and purchased the thread.
No worries, it is down now, and I really like it. I'll be putting it into my Etsy shop, so hopefully it will find a nice home.
It finishes out at 55" x 60", a nice lap or throw size. Something to put on the lawn during outdoor Summer concerts, perhaps?
The backing is made up of 12" squares of several of the fabrics that are on the front. It's been quilted with some straight lines outside some of the seams, but not all of them.

In other news, if you're into vintage sheets as fabric, I've added a couple of bundle deals to the shop. Pick 5 or pick 10 for the special price of only $1 per fat quarter.
I'm currently in the process of updating my pictures with scanned swatches to better show the color. I'm also adding many prints that I've had around, but have escaped being listed.
I'm also open to trading fabrics, so drop me a line if you want to perhaps swap some stash!

WIP Wednesday

The squares Denyse Schmidt squares I showed in my last WIP post have become this quilt top, which I am calling Summertime Blues. I did add a few spots of tomato red to the mix to break up all the blues and a few Dear Stella stripes in shades of blue and grey. I've been working on a pieced backing for this quilt and should have it all sandwiched up in the next day or two.

I also managed to finish 6 more of my Sophie blocks from the vintage sheet fat quarters. Well, not completely finish, I have to put the applique circles in the middle, but that will be my final step once all 30 blocks are all sewn up.

I did start work on a Zakka pencil case, but I did not take a picture of it. Other than that, I haven't worked on any of my previously mention WIP projects. I'm off until Tuesday, so hopefully I'll get a bunch of things completed. If all goes well, I hope to be announcing a little challenge next Wednesday, so stay tuned!

Sunday Stash New Denyse Schmidt!

I was totally surprised to find Denyse Schmidt's newest line for Joann's in the store yesterday. I had stopped in to pick up some batting, backing and a few odds and ends and just decided to look at the premium fabrics section for some of her older prints that I was low on. Meadowlark is the name of the new line, and from what I saw on her Facebook page it looks like there are 12 prints. While I was in the (first) store I found 8 of the prints. They were mixed up in several locations, and not knowing how many I was searching for I may have missed a couple. That's why after I came home and looked up some info, I headed back out the the second store. There I found 2 additional prints for a total of 10. Looks like I'm missing 2, and no sign of them on the Joann's website as of yet.
And now I'm left wondering what prints they might be getting exclusive in Australia. I wonder if Fiona will keep me posted...

In other stash news, I decided to try some of these Lisette fabrics that are so eye catching. These were also to be found at Joann's. They are an apparel collection item, but 100% cotton and not stretchy, so I'm hoping they will be fine for quilting.

I've a few other items that I haven't photographed, so those I'll share for another day. Happy stash building!

April HST BOM

The April block of the month for the In Color Order BOM was a pinwheel block. Having already made two pinwheel quilts I was pretty familiar with this block. Only this time, I made the blocks using the alternative HST method that was posted at the beginning of the year rather than the traditional method. Last month when I tried using the alternative method from memory, I ended up reverting to the traditional without even realizing it. This month I was on my toes and everything went off without a hitch. I really enjoy using the alternative method. Next pinwheel quilt, and there will be a next, I will use this method exclusively.
Anyway, here's my block. I've used DS Quilts Sugar Creek in Gingham Nut Cornflower and the same print in green. The other gingham prints are DS Quilts Picnic and Fairgrounds.
Oh, and this time my block measured 12.5" square exactly! Finally.

Sunday Stash #02

Daisy Mae, the new line from Denyse Schmidt, is in at Joann's and one of my locations had 15 of the 19 prints. I got some of each, but never thought to check reviews about the fabric before I purchased. Apparently this line may be pretty flawed. I checked my pieces after getting home and 1 print was defective the whole way through and a couple of others had white streaks here and there. If you're going to buy some, check it carefully first! Here are the ones I was able to get. The top print in the first stack is the one that had to go back to the store.
