WIP Wednesday: Central Park

For this WIP Wednesday, I have my Central Park quilt top finished. I got it done last night, and took it outside to the laundry line this morning to take a picture. The laundry line is my new favorite way to take pictures. I think I'll have to raise it up a bit though.
As soon as I decide on what to back this with I'll be able to hopefully get it finished before vacation is over.

Also in the works: The first row, which is actually the middle row of 5, of the quilt for my husband. I'm making this as a surprise, and he's on vacation with me, too, so not too much progress on this for now. It's a combo T-shirt/fabric quilt. Because of the shirts, my blocks are about 17" square! The design is based on the one on theSunshine?Paradise? blog. I think it's going to suit this quilt well, as I have 5 t-shirt blocks, and that quilt has the 5 large fabric square blocks.

Central Park Quilt Progress

I spent some time working on my Central Park quilt today. I got the main top finished, and learned something about myself. I'm a fabric stretcher. I don't mean to be, but I am. It took sewing several unpinned rows together and having them not line up at the end to figure out what was going on. When I would sew a strip of sashing to a row of blocks, I would not pin it, just feed it through, lining up the edges as I went along. When it came time to sew the sashed rows to each other, problems ensued. Once I unpicked my sashing from my rows, pinned the sashing on, then resewed, they lined up just fine. I wish I had realized that this was the problem back when I made my All Framed Up top. I think that my stretching fabric was a big part of the problem.
So, for me, no more unpinned lengthy pieces. Pinning takes time, but it's better than picking it all apart and redoing.

WIP Wednesday

Still haven't had as much time to sew as I would like, but I have made some progress on the Plus Quilt. It has 17 rows of total. I've sewn up 8 rows so far, so that's about half way.

Some of the time I could have been sewing, I was instead cutting out pieces for 2 more quilts! This is a stack of Delilah by Tanya Whelan that I'll be making into a baby quilt, I've actually started to sew these together, I just don't have an updated picture to show.

And this is a stack of Central Park by Kate Spain. I'm making myself a quilt out of this. Specifically, one similar to this one as seen on The Elven Garden blog. I think it is just gorgeous. Mine will be similar, but I won't be using the animal prints. I have my pieces cut, just haven't started it yet.
