WIP Wednesday The not so Patriotic Version

I've actually been working on a quilt that I am truly going to finish. In fact, it is almost complete, I just have to finish the vertical quilting and then go around the edges twice and it will be done!

Unfortunately, it isn't red, white and blue, hence my not being in tune with the holiday!

I purchased a slew of children's type fabrics a few months ago with the intent of making many quilty blankies for kiddos. This is me getting started on that.

This first one is Kathy Miller Color Stories prints in grey and citron.

Simple patchwork blocks finishing at 6in. and voila, one quilt done.

The back is one of my thrifted sheets in a coordinating color, with a vertical line of scraps to break up the monotony of solid color.

I'm toying with the idea of doing the next one in appliqued circle pebble things, which I saw recently on one of the blogs I follow, but can't locate right now...

Sunshine Quilt Finished

It's finally done. I delved into a bit of hand quilting with this quilt, my first time ever. It's pretty primitive, but it was a relaxing experience. I only hand quilted on the 4 blocks with the applique suns on them. The other 12 blocks I machine stitched various sun themes, all stitching done with variegated thread and floss.
The back is from one of my ever present thrifted sheets.

WIP Wednesday: Central Park

For this WIP Wednesday, I have my Central Park quilt top finished. I got it done last night, and took it outside to the laundry line this morning to take a picture. The laundry line is my new favorite way to take pictures. I think I'll have to raise it up a bit though.
As soon as I decide on what to back this with I'll be able to hopefully get it finished before vacation is over.

Also in the works: The first row, which is actually the middle row of 5, of the quilt for my husband. I'm making this as a surprise, and he's on vacation with me, too, so not too much progress on this for now. It's a combo T-shirt/fabric quilt. Because of the shirts, my blocks are about 17" square! The design is based on the one on theSunshine?Paradise? blog. I think it's going to suit this quilt well, as I have 5 t-shirt blocks, and that quilt has the 5 large fabric square blocks.

Vintage Purple Baby Quilt Finished

I finally finished ripping out all of the quilting I had done on this quilt and redid it all. The first time I quilted, I used a dark purple thread. This time I've used a lighter lavender and I think it suits much better.
This was made with squares from vintage sheets and the backing is a piece from a more modern purple polka dot sheet.
Straight line quilting along the seams. No binding, I did the inside out method then sewed two rows of stitches all along the outer edge. Measures 38"x38 and is in my Etsy Shop

More Baby Vintage Goodness

I like making these baby quilts because they provide such a measure of quick gratification. Plus, I get to use a bit of all of these sheets I'm collecting.

I liked my orange and yellow quilt so much, I thought I would try to make several more in other colorways. I've plans for a blue, pink, green and perhaps an all yellow.

Today I have a purple one. This one has been the hardest one to put together simply because I have not found a lot of sheets with purple as the main color. I don't know if it is just the area where I live, or if purple sheets were not a popular item in the "olden" days.
Anyway, I finally pulled together a sufficient amount to make a 7x7 top and that is what you see below. I've got my backing all picked out, nothing too fancy, but it is another sheet, just not vintage.

Little Apples Baby Quilt

Wow, I've finally completed a quilt that I feel I've done a nice enough job on that I could sell it.

I've kept it really simple with basic squares and rectangles and only some straight line quilting. I've even used my favorite way of non-binding binding the quilt.


It measures approximately 41"x45" and is backed in a pin sized red with white polka dots fabric. I used some of the leftover print cuts to make a stripe across the back.


I'll be happily listing this in my Etsy shop, I hope it finds a home!

Next up, is this little quilt. All that remains is the the quilting, then this one will be ready for my shop, too.


It's made up of vintage sheet squares, all in oranges and yellows. I think it's my favorite quilt so far.

All Framed Up Top Finished

I finished this sometime last month. I was able to sew it all together, but it wasn't easy. Due to the problem I have with not being able to sew a consistent 1/4in seam, these pieces were all over the place.

I'm not happy with it, and I'm unsure if I'll be turning it into a full quilt, but I felt I should still document it, so here it is.
