I signed up for hand stitched class that Rachel at Stitched in Color was offering hoping to build my hand stitching skills. This past week was the first week of class and she had 3 projects that were available to work on. I don't plan on doing the shirt applique, but I did do this needle book. I still have to do the reverse applique block that will become the center of a quilt we will be making as the class moves along.
The piece of felt is the one I received with the class kit that I purchased, the background fabric is some rose print I've had for awhile. I used red pearl cotton for my blanket stitches on the front, and some gold colored floss for my stitching of the borders. This was my first time doing the blanket stitch. I thought it was a pretty nifty stitch. I haven't made the scissors pocket as my smallest pair is still too big for this holder, so I will maybe get a tiny pair just for this book.
Now I have an official place to put my needles, and they won't sink into the abyss that is the deep part of my pin cushion.
Don't forget to link up the UFOs you finish in June to my UFO Challenge, there are prizes to be had!
